Focusing on your home’s curb appeal, upgrading the bathrooms, and installing new windows are great ways to get the biggest bang for your buck when selling.
If you’re putting your home on the market and wondering which upgrades will give you the biggest bang for your buck once you sell, there are three areas you can focus on.
First, dive into the curb appeal projects. A little bit of exterior painting, landscaping, and yard care are the most common things sellers do when preparing their home for the market. Choosing the right eye-catching colors for the outside of your home—even if it’s just the front door—can mean the difference between a buyer choosing your home over someone else’s. The front of your home is the first thing sellers will see when they pull up to it, so its first impression may be its only impression—make it count!
Next, upgrade the bathroom(s). A mid-range bathroom remodel, which can include replacing the toilet, light fixtures, and floor tiles, typically results in an increase in value for every dollar spent. However, a full upscale bathroom remodel might end up costing you.
Lastly, install new windows. New mid-range windows can return $1.15 for every dollar you spend, but don’t get too fancy! If you do, you’ll just break even.
