The winter is actually a great time to buy a home. Here are four reasons why.
Now that the holiday season is over, you might find yourself wondering when the right time to start shopping for a home is. Today we’re going to share a few different reasons why now is a great time to get serious about your search:
1. Less competition from homebuyers. Most buyers take the winter off to celebrate and recover from the holidays and also to avoid trudging around in poor weather to look for houses. Shopping for real estate at a time when there are fewer buyers in the market can pay off big. That’s because competing with multiple offers can be one of the most stressful parts of the home buying process.
2. Motivated home sellers. Home sellers in the winter are usually more serious and motivated to sell their homes, therefore they’re more open to negotiations. Where a buyer may lack in the availability of homes, they’ll be able to make up for it by dealing with a more flexible seller.
3. A more realistic picture of a house. What house doesn’t look amazing in the springtime with newly planted flowers and sun streaming into the windows? Checking out a home during the winter season may give you a more accurate idea of what it would be like to live in that home year-round. It could also give you a chance to check out for any deficiencies around the home that you might only notice in cold weather.
4. Greater accessibility to professionals. Since the winter months are usually slower all-around, you will have better access to movers, inspectors, and mortgage brokers. Because they will be working with fewer clients, they will often be more readily available to speed your closing through.
